We will install webserver package through a custom package.
I spent two days to figure out how to deploy WebServer using a Custom Package since it is not available through CommServe push install due to a SQL deployment. Anyways, there are some very relevant points that are not in the docs and I thought I would share with you.
In my case I reviewed the my SoftwareCache folder to make sure that it was properly configured.
**Clear my Software Cache and started a SP15 download from the CommCell. With that completed, download the latest hotfix pack. ** If you re sure that your cache software is healthy and complete, no need to follow this.
1- From the Windows folder on the software cache, run setup, and created a custom package for NEW INSTALLS and all packages (including SQL).
2- That done, mapped the folder to the target machine and run Setup > Selected Add Packages -> WebServer.
3- Installation begins, and after 5 mins it asks for a reboot and it says BEFORE SETUP CONTINUE.
4- Once the machine is rebooted, note that the services will continue DOWN and it has to be that way since the installation is not complete.
5- YOU WILL HAVE TO RUN THE SETUP AGAIN (from the same location as the step 1) because the Setup WONT automatically resume.
6- Execute the Setup and a box will appear saying Resume Install (Select Resume Install) or Clean Up Unfinished installation.
7- Few more minutes and it will ask for a users with CommServe Admin permissions (admin), after that installation should go through and complete bringing all the services up again with no more restarts.
It wasnt easy just like everything in Commvault world.
Hope it helps.
